Since ACHIY garments which are made from alpaca wool are much higher quality than “everyday” fabrics, there are a few tips to keep in mind when cleaning them. But do not worry it is easy to handle. Alpaca fibres contain protein molecules, which is why often just a light airing of the garments is enough to remove unpleasant odours.
If the alpaca sweater must be washed, it is most important that the regulator of your washing machine is at a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and at a 600 revolutions spin cycle. If your washing machine has a wool wash cycle function, you can also use that.
Of course, the best and most gentle way is hand washing. For this, it is best to use about 30 degrees warm water and a mild hair shampoo or wool detergent. The use of fabric softeners should be avoided, as it can negatively affect the fabulous thermal function of alpaca wool. After the garment has soaked briefly, it is sufficient to lightly pull it through the water. Strong rubbing should be avoided in any case. This also applies to drying. After careful washing (also with warm! water), the garment should be gently squeezed with a towel.
Now we have a very important tip for you: Do not hang your wet alpaca piece on the clothesline, but rather dry the garment lying down. This will prevent unsightly bulging of the garment and preserve the beautiful fit of the ACHIY garments for a long time.
